Other Countries

  • Albania - EBU requested the Albanian broadcaster to join the next edition in Athens. The application forms of all countries should have been ready until 31st October 2014. Albania didn't apply on time, and EBU decided their withdrawal on November 1st, 2014.
  • British Virgin Islands - The little country's broadcasted decided to withdraw on September 20th because of the bad results that followed in July, August and September.
  • Costa Rica Costa Rica - Costa Rica decided to withdraw because of lack of money.
  • Georgia - Georgian broadcaster confirmed that Georgia would withdraw from the Autumn edition in Athens.
  • Honduras - Honduras decided to withdraw because of lack of money and participants. "They might come back in one of the next editions" as Angela Bendeck stated in her interview.
  • Monaco - As Albania, the Monegasque broadcaster didn't fill in the application form on time, and EBU decided their withdrawal. Later, it was found that Monaco had sent an application form on the deadline day, which hadn't been seen by the EBU, so the country returned to the contest.
  • Slovakia - The Slovak broadcaster couldn't afford the next Slovak representative, as they always choose internally, and decided to withdraw from the contest.
  • Slovenia - Slovenian broadcaster confirmed that they wouldn't take part in the next edition in Athens.
  • South Korea - Despite sending a preliminary application to participate, on 10 October 2014 the South Korea broadcaster announced that it will withdraw from the contest due to financial reasons.
  • Svalbard - Because of the awful results of the little country, Svalbard decided to withdraw from the contest and fund OneRepublic to represent US Virgin Islands.
