Eurovision Fan Contest - August 2016 will be the 18th edition of EFC that will be held in Melbourne, Australia following the victory of Delta Goodrem in September 2015 with the song "Wings". It will be the second time Australia will host the contest. The two semi-finals will be held in 7 and 14 August, and the Grand Final in 21 August 2016. The three shows will be hosted by Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang.
Forty-four countries will participate in Melbourne for the 2016 August edition. Among them, Singapore debuts in the contest. Åland Islands, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Iceland, Luxembourg and South Korea return and Georgia, Liechtenstein, Malta, Namibia and Philippines withdraw from the contest.
Bidding phase
On March 27th, the following cities confirmed their interest for the bidding phase, in which the host city and the venue will be decided:

On the same day, it was announced that the Rod Laver Arena, in Melbourne, would host the next edition, with a capacity of 21,000 people.
The competition will consist of two semi-finals and a final, a format which has been in use since the first edition in July. The ten countries with the highest scores in each semi-final will qualify to the final where they will join the host nation Australia. The consition of the Big Five will be based on the format that has been in use since August 2015: the top three of the last edition (host nation + second and third placers of last edition), and three most successful countries. Based on this format, the big 6 so far is:

New voting system
The EBU and the host broadcaster, SBS, announced on 28 July 2016 that a new voting system would be implemented at the contest for the first time since the pilot edition in July 2013. From the 2016 August edition and on, the voting system is going to be in the following format: all participating countries should vote in the semi-finals and the final. In the semi-finals, the votes of the semi-finalists count as the jury votes, whilst the votes of the remaining countries of each edition count as the televoting votes. The same format is also valid in the grand final: the 26 finalists' votes count as the jury votes and the votes of the remaining countries count as the televoting.
For more details of the host country, see Australia
The contest will take place in the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, following Australia's victory at the 2015 September contest in Sydney with the song "Wings", performed by Delta Goodrem. The Rod Laver Arena has a capacity of approximately 15,000 attendees, and this will be the first time the contest will be staged at the venue.
On August 2nd, it was announced that 44 countries would participate in Melbourne for the August edition.
