Eurovision Fan Contest - August 2016

Åland Islands, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Iceland, Luxembourg and South Korea return and Georgia, Liechtenstein, Malta, Namibia and Philippines withdraw from the contest.

New voting system

The EBU and the host broadcaster, SBS, announced on 28 July 2016 that a new voting system would be implemented at the contest for the first time since the pilot edition in July 2013. From the 2016 August edition and on, the voting system is going to be in the following format: all participating countries should vote in the semi-finals and the final. In the semi-finals, the votes of the semi-finalists count as the jury votes, whilst the votes of the remaining countries of each edition count as the televoting votes. The same format is also valid in the grand final: the 26 finalists' votes count as the jury votes and the votes of the remaining countries count as the televoting.
